A Fresh Start

Introducing the Morse project. The main focus of this project was to give the front yard a makeover. This included redesigning the planting areas, developing a way to manage stormwater, designing a new walkway, creating a play area , designing a seating area, and lots more.

We planted 31 different plant species, most of which were native or native-ish. The plants have had lots of time to mature and are now thriving in this space. Below are a couple photos of the space a few years after the work was completed.

Sustainable gardening

Nature designs

We redesigned the planting areas in this space with nature and sustainability in mind. By covering so much of the yard in plants, we hoped to solve some of the stormwater issues that the owners of this home were dealing with. Plants can help reduce soil erosion by providing surface area where rain water can land and has a chance to evaporate. The roots of these plants take up a lot of the water that does make its way to the ground. The deep growing roots of native plants can help create conditions in the soil that promote infiltration. We also designed a contemporary retaining wall to address the stormwater issue and prevent flooding. The whole yard really came together and we love how it turned out! We hope you do to!

Native plants

Native planting is at the core of everything we do. Creating healthy habitats for butterflies and birds, it helps your garden thrive. See below a selection of native plants that were used in this project.
