What’s it gonna cost ME?

We’ve touched on this topic before but thought a refresher course would be nice. We often get asked how much a project is going to cost before we even start brainstorming what the client is looking for. It's hard to answer that question before going through the design phase together but here are some helpful numbers that might guide you through the process.

Average prices for common requests:

  • Pavers ($25-30 per sqft)

  • Blacktop removal ($2-4 per sqft)

  • Deck (excluding railing - $75-100 per sqft)

  • Planting plugs ($2-3 per plant)

  • Potted plants ($15-20 per plant)

  • Trees ($200-300 per tree)

  • Sod ($2-3 per sqft)

  • Grass Seed ($0.20 per sqft)

(Prices are subject to current market)

Something else to keep in mind when committing to a project is timing.  It usually takes a client 4-5 weeks to get from initial consultation to the proposal signing and 12-13 weeks to get through the design phase. The time it takes to complete the installation/construction phase varies widely depending on the size and details of the project. We're talking a few days to a few months!

Sometimes we feel that if the client is hyper-focused on budget that the quality of the project could be at risk. Focusing strictly on budget when designing a landscaping project can compromise the functionality of the design, leading to lower durability and less aesthetic appeal. This narrow approach often overlooks long-term maintenance costs, ultimately resulting in a yard that may require costly repairs and adjustments later on. Our goal is to create a visually pleasing, functional, and sustainable outdoor area that enhances your property and makes you feel at home every time you step into the space. In an upcoming post we will discuss the importance of taking the time to look beyond the budget.
